Changes to technical requirements affecting new batteries and items containing them

From 26 September 2008, any batteries you newly place on the European market will have to comply with certain requirements. The regulations will apply to all of the following:

  • all types of batteries regardless of their shape, volume, weight, material composition or use
  • all products into which a battery is or may be incorporated

Distributors and retailers will not have to remove existing stocks that were lawfully placed on the market before 26 September 2008.
