A call for projects has been published for a new funding programme within the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), Eco-innovation. It addresses mainly companies – particularly SMEs – that have developed an innovative product, process or service showing clear environmental benefits, yet still struggling to succeed in the market.

Waste treatment, material recycling, resource management, cleaner buildings, green procurement are but a few examples of eco-innovative solutions that are potentially targeted under this programme.
Covering 40 to 60% of a project's eligible cost, Eco-innovation aims at unleashing their replication potential and at broadening their marketability across Europe.
